I never really liked science fair projects. It was partly because I didn't like doing the work (grins) but also because I could never think of a good idea for them. Here's an idea, that may or may not be original, but is sort of rocket science. Diet coke and menthos rocket, sort of like an engine test... Things you need: - Diet coke (all the bottles the same size as each other).
- Menthos
- Something or someone to keep the bottles in one place and horizontal (you might want duct tape?)
What to do: - Open the coke bottles, and change the size and shape of the openings. (For example, on one you could cut a smallish hole in the lid, on another you could leave the lid off, and on another you could cut off the whole top of the bottle.)
- Make sure they have the same amount of coke in all of them.
- Put one horizontally and put in some menthos. Measure how far the coke/menthos combination has gone (and the time it took for the first bit of it to reach the ground.)
- Repeat for all the different openings.
Then: - You could make a graph of distance (that the coke/menthos went) versus size of the opening.
- You could figure out the speed that it was launched, with speed=[d-4.9t^2]/t (that's speed equals distance minus [4.9 times the time squared] all divided by the time) But that might not be accurate because the time measurment might not be accurate.
Thanks for reading it all! If you have any questions, just go on my website chiya-pi.diaryland.com and comment on one of the entries and I'll get back to you!

cool.
the only rocket I know how to do is a water-boosted one.
It's kind of regular in my former school.(Caloocan Science High School..it sucks)

sounds REALLY great!!! but then......whoah.... it's a bit confusing when numbers join the steps..... XD oh math.... life is full of maths. oh well, i like designing rockets..... it's fine to do those projects if ALL of your team mates cooperate. (that's in our water boosting thing at our former school.) i mean, if you'll be the only one to do it, and the others will get credit, that's unfair. i remembered something i did a long time ago....
i drunk soda then ate Menthos...... and felt weird.

Well I can do math, Mentos + Coke = Boom ON TOPIC: Ya the only science projects I have to do is ones where I have to draw a picture to save the water....I had the nicest one in class =D
